The New York BizLab, the business accelerator in downtown Schenectady, is holding a talk about cybersecurity for small businesses and startup companies.
The cost of the event, which includes a light breakfast, is $10. Tickets are available here online.
The BizLab is located at 251 State St. inside the First Niagara Bank branch.
Speakers will include Ryan Spelman of the Center for Internet Security in East Greebush; Chris Labatt-Simon of SureDone, a BizLab tenant; and Steve Lobel, a vice president of Anchor Agency, a Pioneer Bank division. Lobel is a Fellow of The National Cybersecurity Institute and is a recognized authority on cyber liability insurance.
Rick D’Ericco, the managing director of the BizLab, says that cyber security breaches are a major threat to small companies, and many often don’t recover from them.
“How can startups start secure, rather than have to play catch up later?” D’Errico said.
The talk will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The best way to get to the event is to park in one of the lots on Liberty Street behind the bank and enter the door to the right of the branch building.
Walk straight through to the front lobby where the event will be held.
