Clinical Informatics Care Transformation Specialist
Details: PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Regional Clinical Informatics Manger, and in collaboration with site Clinical Informatics Lead, Physician Liaison, and members of other AHS-IS teams, the AHS-IS Clinical Informatic Care Transformation Specialist supports enterprise-wide Information Technology project implementations in the Adventist Health clinical settings. Applies broad informatics knowledge (technical and process)to help to deploy new clinical systems and/or functionalities. The candidate should be passionate about care transformation in a changing environment. They should understand clinical workflows and electronic order entry management in a hospital environment. They must have excellent skills in customer service and communicating with physicians and other hospital staff. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Supports key clinical information system projects a. Works collaboratively with the Regional Clinical Informatic Manager, AHS-IS project team members, facility Clinical Informatic Leads and other facility team members to support major clinical system initiatives in support of excellence in patient care, care transformation, and establishment of best practicesb. Identifies significant issues, sharing findings with Regional Clinical Informatic Managers, AHS-IS project team members and facility project leads to promote system and process optimization c. Communicates the project schedules, tasks, issues, and overall status to the project manager with a written status reportd. Performs other project tasks as assignede. Participates in other projects/committees as requested to contribute to organization’s overall goals and objectives 2. Serves as consultant to optimize workflow and care processes related to clinical information managementa. Works closely with AHS-IS Healthcare Management Engineers and Regional Clinical Informatic Managers to optimize use of clinical information systems by clinical and non-clinical hospital team members b. Cross train with interdisciplinary personnel to support multiple hospital departments at the time of CPOE and other project conversions c. Work with a variety of professionals including physicians, nurses, coders, laboratory, pharmacy, IT staff etc, regardless of role in organizationd. Performs assessment of clinical workflow processes before, during, and after clinical system implementation; identifying gaps escalating and coordinating process solutions as needed e. Conducts clinical system end-user process audits and reports findings and recommendations to Regional Clinical Informatic Manager and facility leads as appropriate3. Serves as a change agent to support clinician adoption of new technologya. Collaborates with AHS IS Change Management Analysts on all change management related activitiesb. Identifies the impact of change and collaborates with project team to strategically plan communication and educationc. Identifies potential barriers to success and communicates effectively to the Regional Clinical Informatic Manager, the AHS-IS project team and all levels of the facilityd. Coaches clinical & provider staff on system and process related topicse. Monitors impact of change and user adoption post go-live 4. Communicates and educates the process and technology changes as a result of the system implementation impacting the clinical usersa. Champions good communication strategies within major projectsb. Develops high quality documentation and materials as appropriate to communicate with all levels of the organizationc. Collaborates with Manager of Education to deliver and evaluate quality training materials inclusive of system and process changesd.
