The Coast Guard is advising the maritime community in Florida to batten down its hatches as a potential hurricane tracked toward the state, but warned boaters that security zones in the Tampa Bay area would go into effect on Aug. 25, possibly impacting their preparation plans.
The Coast Guard urged caution as Tropical Storm Isaac moved westward in the Caribbean and threatened a northward turn towards the Gulf of Mexico. The exact path of the storm in the gulf hasn’t been determined, but the west coast of Florida could receive a glancing blow.
