Support the development and maintenance of departmental/divisional information systems and oversee website development, including responsibilities for data integrity, application and/or system security and overall operation of departmental/divisional information systems. Serve as the primary information systems resource person and act as a liaison between functional end users and technical staff.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Support daily use of departmental/divisional information systems including data management, system development activities and end user support.
Troubleshoot and resolve operating problems with the data management system to promptly bring the system back in use.
Analyze existing business processes and make recommendations for improved efficiency and productivity using available technical resources.
Develop and administer procedures to ensure the integrity and security of data within information systems.
Develop and manage end user reports for department/division.
Develop and coordinate system and program specifications as needed.
Coordinate system testing and approval of test results as needed.
Provide end user support by installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of software in assigned department/division related to business applications.
Depending upon area of assignment, may have responsibility for department/division website development and maintenance.
Coordinate with other offices concerning development and integration of systems.
Insure the development, documentation and maintenance of system procedures to ensure ongoing efficient operation. Assist with the development of training programs and staff training, as requested. Recommend and coordinate the purchase of business applications related to technology usage.
Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
Perform related departmental duties, as required.
Knowledge of computer information systems, data management systems, systems and business application development and IT security best practices typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field is required.
Two years related experience in system analysis, business application development, general database administration and report writing and development is required.
Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and MS Office Suite is necessary.
Knowledge of specific software applications utilized in the area of assignment may be highly preferred.
Prior experience providing desktop support may be required, depending upon area of assignment.
Website development and maintenance experience may be required depending upon area of assignment.
Related IT industry certifications are highly preferred.
Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users verbally, in writing and in training presentations to groups or individuals is required.
Requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations. Requires good ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard, and read technical information.
