Meet Reuben Paul from Austin, Texas who is an accomplished hacker, app developer, cyber security expert and the CEO of Prudent Games. What’s more is the fact that he’s just 9 years old.
He had delivered his keynote last year on Children’s Day and this time he’s here as a ‘special ambassador’ with a special address lined up and to share his knowledge by teaching cyber security to kids.
Paul was present at the Ground Zero Summit 2015 which is Asia’s foremost information security conference, one of the biggest hacker conferences in the world attended by cyber security experts and researchers.
He spoke about Cyber KungFu, drawing from his experience as the youngest Shaolin Do KungFu 2nd degree black belt.
The summit started at the Ashok Hotel and was addressed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, the chief guest.
Jiten Jain, CEO of Indian Infosec Consortium, which organises the summit, said their objective is to have all the hackers and cyber experts under one umbrella for research on the country’s cyber security.
Prudent Games, which makes games that combine educational content with fun, also had an App which shows children how to come up with secure passwords and another about the basics of Bruteforce attacks, which is used by hackers to, among other things, crack passwords.
The story of how he started his own company is interesting.”Reuben was selected for the Gifted and Talented programme (run by the Texas education system) and had to make a game. The others made boardgames and such like, but Reuben who is passionate about video games, decided to come up with one,” says his mother Sangeetha, a IT professional herself. “That game was about shooting Ninja stars, but I wanted to bring in an element of math so you could only hit the monster if he had the right answer,” says Reuben.
