• Ratan Tata and R S Sharma’s twitter accounts got compromised
• Hackers shared a tweet by parody account @realhistorypic
NEW DELHI, India – After a string of celebrities, business honchos and even the CEO of Twitter himself came under cyber attacks in the last few months, with their Twitter accounts being hacked – now Indian business tycoon Ratan Tata was targeted.
The leading Indian industrialist’s account was hacked along with the account of the chief of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, R S Sharma.
In an official statement, TRAI confirmed the hacking and said that Sharma was in Fiji for an official meeting with telecom firms when the hacking took place.
Tata Sons chairman Emeritus too acknowledged the act with a tweet and said, “shocked that my twitter account was hacked on Friday and a spurious, malicious tweet was wrongly attributed to me. This spurious tweet has now been deleted and my twitter account restored. I regret the inconvenience that this malicious and wrongful action may have caused.”
The hackers tweeted a nasty and funny tweet, mocking the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. However, the tweets were subsequently deleted and the accounts were restored, not before they left several tweeple surprised since Ratan Tata is not a frequent user of the micro blogging platform.
The tweet attacked even Chairman, Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani.
