Description:Under the direction of the Reporting Applications & Development Supervisor, the Information Analyst will combine his/her healthcare business and clinical knowledge with data and information retrieval skills to actively contribute to the UW Medical Foundations need for business and clinical insights through data discovery. The Information Analyst demonstrates proficiency with the fundamentals of: (a) the UW Medical Foundations analytical needs; (b) database structure and efficient data accession; and (c) utilization of a variety of analytical methods, database query tools, and reporting/data visualization techniques. With these skills, the Information Analyst will seek guidance from the Supervisor in responding to requests for business, clinical, or operational insights via data and information retrieval. Responsibilities include design and implementation of data sets and data visualizations; and provision of education and consulting to users about the Analysts completed work. The Information Analyst also ensures that methodologies are sound and the Analysts data output is thoroughly tested and documented. The Information Analyst assures that appropriate privacy measures are in place and maintained through the extraction, use and distribution of clinical data. Qualifications:BA degree in medical-related or business-related field required. 5 years of experience in the healthcare analytics and information consulting arena required. Demonstrated proficiency with SQL query and database concepts required. Demonstrated proficiency with PL SQL programming language preferred. Demonstrated mastery of Crystal Reports required. Demonstrated experience with other query tools, particularly SAS and Business Objects Web and Xcelsius, is ideal. Demonstrated experience with PeopleSoft data structures and query tools preferred. Experience with Epics production applications and Clarity data repository preferred Must demonstrate an ability to manage multiple projects and requests. Must exhibit strong organizational, and communication skills. Must be self-motivated in paying attention to detail. Mastery of processes for the precision and validation of data needed by clinical research products and other organizational initiatives requiring precision is ideal. Must be self-motivated in developing and maintaining all process and development documentation. Must participate effectively in cross departmental teams. Must be customer-service oriented.
