This person assists in the maintenance and assurance of information systems to protect data from unauthorized users. This includes a hands-on and working knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications (SP), especially, 800-53 Revision 3, 800-37 Revision 1, and 800-30.
This person must possess the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
This person must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the information security field to include the ability to identify, report, and resolve security violations. This person is self-starting and self-sustaining and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This person can adequately perform Federal Information System Management Act (FISMA)/NIST SP 800-53 Revision 3 Security Testing and Evaluation to include vulnerability scanning activities and clearly defined and agreed upon penetration testing. This person is capable of working under general supervision and possesses a BS/BA degree in computer science, computer security, or related field plus 4 to 6 years of experience in related field.
