Patiala: Patiala police, jointly with Nabha police, claim to have arrested six gangsters who were into computer hacking.
Several credit cards of Chinese-make along with an arsenal of guns and cartridges was also seized.
SSP Gurmit Singh Chauhan said the gangsters were trying to get some undertrials released from the high security Nabha jail. They were planning to strike when the undertrials were being moved for hearing in court cases, he added.
Two cars and weapons were also recovered from this international gang, the SSP said. Three of the arrested accused have been identified as Ramanjit Singh, Jagsir Singh Seera, Saaraj Singh, Jagjit Singh, Mandeep Singh and Jagsir Singh — all from Rama Mandi in Bathinda district.
Police officials said the gang had procured 27 credit cards from China with which they planned to hack into bank accounts through ATM. They were carrying a 12 bore revolver and nine cartridges. They said the gang had contacts in China and Hong Kong.
The kingpin Ramanjit, was planning something big and had established contacts with hackers in Chennai and Hong Kong.
