The Information Technology Services Division of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University (PSU) is seeking cybersecurity technicians. You will be responsible to coordinate, design, recommend, evaluate, and manage new and existing security services, controls, solutions, processes, and procedures. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate’s competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Information Technology, or Computer Science is desired. The following experience areas are preferred: Operational experience with endpoint security solutions; firewall management and auditing; intrusion detection/prevention system management and auditing; SEIM management such as Splunk, ELK, or Alienvault; familiarity with VMware and management of virtual machines; incident response handling; and cybersecurity forensic. Security certifications, such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, GSEC or CISSP are preferred. Requirement areas include: Security/event log auditing; vulnerability scanning and mitigation utilizing Nessus, Retina, GFI Languard, or similar tool; familiarity with Windows, Unix/Linux, and OSX operating system administration; TCP/ IP network analysis and network/packet level examination tools such as tcpdump, Zenmap, or Wireshark; and familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Bro, Suricata, or Snort. You must possess effective analytical and problem solving skills as well as good organizational and multitasking skills. The ability to work independently, but also effectively in teams across multiple IT disciplines is necessary. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written are required. Candidates selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.
