Details: Position Title: Technology Certification Trainer #1397Position Type: Full-Time Department: Business Services Reports To: Intern Specialist/CoordinatorFLSA Status: Non Exempt Benefit Status: FullLocation: Lansing, MI Prepared By: Intern Specialist/CoordinatorPrepared Date: 10/28/12Approved By: HRApproval Date: 10/29/12 SUMMARYThe instructor will plan, prepare and present classes including but not limited to: CompTIA A+ Certification (CompTIA 220-701 and 220-702) Entrance into the A+ class will be determined by completion of a skills competency test. MS 7 Configuration (70-680) Prerequisite for entry into this class will be certification in A+ (or equivalent). The final exam for this class will be the successful completion of the 70-680 certification test. CompTIA Security + (current, most recent version) Other classes and or workshops/seminars as determined by needs assessment (Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Outlook) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Prepares daily lessons for participants that will prepare them for the CompTia A+, Security+ and MS7 Configuring (MCTS) tests Provides practice and simulations that will help participants in the “hands-on” skills and to build on prior knowledge. Provides strategies for passing certification exams: critical thinking and reading, study and test preparation, dealing with anxiety, confidence building Maintains attendance and skills assessment (grading) records for all participants. Provides timely feedback to participants related to in-class instruction and analysis of web-based assignments given for home study. Able to manage, evaluate, and prescribe remediation based on student progress using the instructor resources at Testout.com Work with the IT department to provide hands on labs when needed when virtual labs will not suffice. Maintain the physical condition of the computer lab thru instruction in proper procedures of participants Adheres to the responsibilities as outlined in the Essential Skills Checklist (attached)10. Promotes the vision, values, and services to all customers and stakeholders of both the host organization and Peckham Inc.11. Assists in maintaining organization wide quality standards.12. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.13. Other duties as assigned by the site supervisor SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.COMMENTSThis position requires passing and maintaining security background checks. Must have access to reliable transportation. Must maintain an unrestricted Michigan driver’s license and possess a clear driving record to drive a company vehicle. Person needs to have the ability to ask questions and voice concerns in relation to work and work environment. Must possess certificates in A+, MS7 Configuration with enterprise work experience and Security + or will gain Security + within 6 weeks of hire. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE This position requires an Associate’s degree, or four years related experience, or a combination of related education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business communication including knowledge bases. . Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, co-workers and supervisors. Ability to write clear, concise instructions detailing the troubleshooting and steps taken prior to escalation of the issue/ticket. Ability to communicate with internal and external customers consistent with the protocols and scripts provided by the host organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, and other desired traits: Secondary teaching license and/or proven success in prior teaching experience Ability to provide differentiated instruction to students with a wide variety of learning styles and disabilities.
