Sacramento Kings point guard Ty Lawson claims he is the victim of cyber hacking, and the culprits are trying to extort him.
Martin Kaufman, Lawson’s attorney, told TMZ over the weekend that the hackers managed to obtain some “very sensitive and private material” and are likely shopping it around to various media outlets. The hackers have apparently found a way to get in touch with Lawson, as Kaufman said they have threatened to go public with the information if they are not paid off.
Lawson has contacted the authorities and the case is currently under investigation.
Unfortunately, hacking has become a common thing for celebrities and athletes to have to deal with. An Olympic gold medalist was recently forced to defend herself against cheating allegations after hackers obtained some private material about her. Lawson’s attorney wouldn’t say what sensitive information has been compromised in this case.
