Christopher M. Friedle, 31, of McHenry.

A McHenry man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman by force and injuring her in McHenry County.

Christopher M. Friedle, 31, of McHenry, was charged in May 2021 with criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual abuse, unlawful restraint and enhanced domestic battery.

A grand jury later indicted him on additional charges of eight counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, seven counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, two counts of aggravated domestic battery and one count of enhanced domestic battery.

A criminal complaint said Friedle sexually assaulted a woman on September 17, 2020, in McHenry County.

Friedle committed multiple sex acts on the adult victim using force, resulting in bodily harm to the woman, the complaint said.

Friedle also unlawfully restrained the victim by holding her and not letting her leave, the complaint said.

The victim was a family or household member of Friedle, who has prior domestic battery convictions, the complaint said.

A grand jury indictment, which upgraded charges in the case, said Friedle bit the woman on the face.

The indictment also said Friedle strangled the woman, impeding her normal breathing.

The case was investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. A warrant was obtained in May 2021 and Friedle was taken into custody in August 2021.

Court records show Friedle entered into a negotiated plea deal with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office this week.

He pleaded guilty to one count of criminal sexual assault by force, a Class 1 felony.

In exchange, prosecutors dismissed the rest of his charges, including numerous Class X felonies.

McHenry County Judge James Cowlin approved the plea deal and sentenced Friedle to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Friedle will be required to serve 85% of the sentence in accordance with Illinois truth-in-sentencing guidelines.

Prosecutors said Friedle will have to register as a sexual predator upon his release from prison.
