11 charged in multi-jurisdiction child predator operation in Jefferson County | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

A child predator operation led by Fultondale police officers and Covenant Rescue Group led to criminal charges against 11 suspects.

The operation was held Thursday and Friday. Multiple other law enforcement agencies – including Leeds, Warrior, Homewood and Irondale police departments – also assisted.

Fultondale police officials, who announced the arrests on Sunday, said none of the suspects live in Fultondale.

Those charged with traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act and electronic solicitation of a child are:

– Jamon Jamonte Jackson, 25, of Bartow, Georgia.

– Domingo Cruz, 34, of Bessemer.

– Ariel Quezada, 25, of Pinson.

– Rolando Santana, 27, of Jasper.

– Dominique Powell, 37, of Tarrant.

– Angelo Wilson, 58, of Birmingham.

– Alexis Reyes, 22, of Columbiana.

– Brian McLeod, 27, of Pleasant Grove

– Jayson Sparksm 55, of Cullman.

– Alexader Osala, 32, of Bessemer. Osala is also charged with aggravated assault of a police officer and resisting arrest.

– Robert Newton, 22, of Trussville. He is also charged with attempting to elude and resisting arrest.

Authorities said Newton backed into an unmarked police vehicle in an attempt to flee. He then refused medical treatment.

Fultondale police said he remains at large because the Jefferson County Jail refused to accept him because he had been involved in a vehicle accident.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released this statement regarding the jail’s refusal to book Newton: “Our policy is not to accept an injured prisoner until they have been medically cleared. It is the arresting agency’s responsibility to provide that medical clearance.”
