Puerquito Dog Treats by Gusto Bread, $11, the barking good, pig-shaped cookies for pampered pups are handcrafted in Long Beach at Gusto Bread with the same stone-milled flours and organic ingredients used for the panaderia’s people-pleasing loaves, conchas, cookies, nixtamal queens, pan de maiz and more.
4. Wild-caught salmon fish sticks
L.A.-based Bibim Paws makes its own organic pet food, supplements, treats and more. The name comes from Bibim, the Korean word for “to mix,” and founder Joyce Kang believes mixing up the best homemade organic foods for our pets means they get to live a longer, healthier life. (Take a look at this chicken bowl, featuring broccoli, zucchini, sweet potato and chicken, and try not to drool.) Also from Planet Pleasures, which specializes in cat and bird toys, the handcrafted Egg Head toy, $8.78 to $15.95, depending upon size. Uniquely special. Southern California-based pressed flower artist Jordan Owashi creates custom pet portraits of our animal friends, furry, fishy, feathered and otherwise, using real dried flowers on washi paper and positioned just so, capturing a pet’s personality and markings. Individually handcrafted, pressed flower portrait, unframed $50.
10. Pet travel gear
Heading over the river and through the woods? Clickit Sport Plus safety harness bundle, $103.49 for car travel from Pasadena-based Sleepypod is designed to buckle up your best friend in comfort. Independently crash tested to meet U.S. child safety standards, the harness is also certified with a five-star safety rating from the Center for Pet Safety and can be linked with a leash for walks upon arrival. Also pictured, the Sleepypod Air in orange dream, $199, is designed for pets up to 18 pounds and features a roomy, safety-certified space for in-cabin air travel. Glam isn’t a season, it’s a lifestyle. The Feathered Jumper, $95, is an iconic collaboration between British celebrity designer Christian Cowan and Maxbone. Perfect for the IG pet who has everything — including more followers than the rest of us. Comes in five colors, including hot pink, yellow, mint, seen above, lavender and light blue.
