Here is a summary of incidents and actions taken by the Key Biscayne Police Department during the period of February 26 to March 3.

These incidents were taken from the department’s logs.


February 26, 2024

The complainant at the 50 block of Harbor Drive requested officers to interview a 7-11 employee regarding a disturbance had with another 7-11 employee.

KBPD officers were dispatched to the 10 block of Village Green Way regarding a minor traffic accident. Officers contacted the involved parties and completed a traffic crash investigation.

While on patrol, officers at the 300 block of Crandon Boulevard conducted a traffic stop. Officers contacted the driver and completed a records check. The check revealed a seize tag order. Officers issued a citation and seized the tag. The tag was placed into evidence.

Police at the 500 block of Glenridge Road conducted a traffic stop. Officers contacted the driver and issued two citations.

The complainant at the 80 block of West McIntyre Street contacted police regarding a found Apple iPad. The iPad was placed into evidence.

KBPD units were dispatched to a residential alarm at the 600 block of South Mashta Drive. Officers checked the property, and all appeared secure.

The complainant at the 700 block of Woodcrest Road contacted police about their identity being stolen. The complainant provided a letter they received and requested a police report to document their concern. A case card was issued.

KBPD officers responded to the 70 block of Crandon Boulevard regarding a male allegedly taking photos and recording videos. Officers contacted the male, and he gave consent to officers to view his phone. There were no videos or photos, as alleged.

Police conducted a traffic stop at the 400 block of Crandon Boulevard for an equipment violation. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.


February 27, 2024

Units responded to the 300 block of Caribbean Boulevard regarding reports of a suspicious female attempting to gain entry to the home. A perimeter was established, and no female was located. Officers contacted the reporting party and advised them of the department’s efforts.

KBPD officers at the 30 block of Crandon Boulevard conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Greenwood Drive regarding a theft of two e-bikes and a bicycle. Officers contacted the complainant, who advised 3 bicycles were stolen overnight. KBPD investigators will conduct a follow-up investigation.

The complainant at the 600 block of Crandon Boulevard contacted police about a male approaching their 9-year-old daughter and making an inappropriate comment about the child’s beauty. The complainant made the complaint after the educational session. Officers obtained a sworn statement and documented the incident.

A male walked into the police station, located at the 80 block of West McIntyre Street, requesting to be transported to Jackson Hospital. The male did not meet the criteria for a Baker Act.


February 28, 2024

Units were dispatched to the 300 block of Sunrise Drive regarding a fire alarm. On arrival, officers contacted KBFD. Officers learned the alarm was the result of a faulty sensor. All was secure.

While on patrol, officers at the 500 block of Crandon Boulevard conducted a traffic stop for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian. Officers contacted the driver, who spontaneously stated they did not have a driver’s license. A records check confirmed the driver had two suspensions on their driver’s license. The driver was issued a citation and a Promise to Appear.

KBPD officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Harbor Drive regarding a minor traffic crash. Officers contacted the involved parties and completed a traffic crash investigation.

Police were dispatched to CVS, located at 726 Crandon Boulevard, regarding a male trespassing. Officers arrived and contacted the male. The male was issued a trespass warning and left without further incident.

Units were dispatched to the 10 block of Village Green Way regarding a disturbance between two juveniles. Officers contacted both parties and learned the dispute was over a helmet being broken. Officers contacted both parents. The incident was documented in a report.


February 29, 2024

A male approached an officer around the 300 block of Crandon Boulevard about accompanying them to 7-11, while they made a purchase. The male has had issues with an employee. Officers accompanied the male, and he purchased items without incident.

KBPD officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Crandon Boulevard regarding a minor traffic crash. Officers contacted the involved parties and completed a traffic crash investigation.

The complainant at the 1100 block of Crandon Boulevard contacted police about a phone scam. Officers documented the incident and issued a case card.

The complainant at the 600 block of Grapetree Drive contacted police about her purse being stolen. The complainant advised she was at the beach behind her residence when she hung her purse on a beach umbrella. The complainant went for a walk and upon returning her purse was gone.

The complainant at the 300 block of Crandon Boulevard contacted police about a pair of found glasses while at Chase Bank. Officers documented the found property and placed the glasses into evidence.

Units were dispatched to the 400 block of Crandon Boulevard regarding a battery at Village Green Park. Officers met with the complainant, who advised they were struck on the right side of the face, while playing soccer. The party, who struck the male during the game, had left prior to police arrival. Officers spoke with the referee who witnessed the incident. The complainant was unsure of pressing charges at this time.


March 1, 2024

KBPD officers responded to a business alarm at the 100 block of Crandon Boulevard. Officers checked the business, and all appeared secure.

Police at the 500 block of Crandon Boulevard were advised by a contracted Village Employee of several unwanted advances by a male. The victim advised there had been several incidents occurring at multiple locations, causing the victim to be uncomfortable. A B.O.L.O. was issued and officers were able to locate the male. The male was taken into custody for Stalking. A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of marijuana. The male was transported to TGK Jail for booking.

The complainant at the 600 block of Crandon Boulevard contacted police about an incident occurring at the Winn Dixie. The complainant wanted to document a confrontation they had with a male. The confrontation was over the male allegedly taking photos of minors. Officers documented the incident in a police report and issued a case card.

The complainant at the 80 block of West McIntyre Street contacted police about a hit and run accident. Officers completed a traffic crash investigation. Traffic investigators will attempt to retrieve surveillance footage from the area.

Police were dispatched to Crandon Boulevard & Key Colony regarding a minor traffic accident. Officers contacted the involved parties and completed a traffic crash investigation.

KBPD officers were dispatched to Silver Sands, located at 301 Ocean Drive, regarding two lost or stolen rings. The complainant advised they had removed two rings, valued at approximately $15,000.00, to wash their hands. The rings were placed on the bed. The complainant went for a walk when they realized they never placed their rings on. Upon returning to the room, it had been serviced. The complainant contacted the management and the housekeeper, but the rings did not turn up. The complainant requested a police report.

Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Crandon Boulevard regarding a minor traffic accident. Officers contacted the involved parties and completed a traffic crash investigation.

Units responded to the Ritz Carlton, located at 445 Grand Bay Drive, regarding a suicide attempt. Offices and members of KBFD rendered first aid. The victim was transported to Ryder Trauma Center, where she was pronounced deceased. Miami Dade Homicide was contacted and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

KBPD officers responded to the 500 block of Ocean Drive regarding a dispute between two residents. The dispute was over the laundry room door being left open and whether it was a fire hazard. Officers spoke with all the involved parties and documented the incident. There was no physical contact.

The complainant at the 200 block of Galen Drive contacted police about a suspicious incident. The complainant was concerned over receiving a letter insulting her with strong language. Officers documented the contents of the letter and issued a case card.


March 2, 2024

Police responded to the 1100 block of Crandon Boulevard regarding a medical call. KBFR responded and assessed and treated the patient.

KBPD units were dispatched to a business alarm at the 100 block of Crandon Boulevard. Officers checked the business, and all appeared secure.

While on patrol, officers at the 800 block of Crandon Boulevard conducted a stop or an electric scooter operating on the sidewalk. Officers contacted the operator and issued a citation.

The complainant at the 50 block of Harbor Drive contacted police about their son’s bicycle being stolen from the bike rack at 7-11. Officers completed a report and detectives will conduct the follow-up.


March 3, 2024

KBPD officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Glenridge Road regarding a loud party and music complaint. On arrival, music could clearly be heard. Officers contacted the homeowner and issued a civil citation.

Units responded to the 100 block of Harbor Drive regarding a demonstration being conducted by Francis Khan. Mr. Khan and four others were given the opportunity to demonstrate peacefully. Mr. Khan lit a Brazilian flag on fire and left without further incident.

Police were contacted from the 90 block of Harbor Drive regarding a found wallet. Officers completed a report and placed the wallet into evidence for safekeeping.

While on patrol, officers at Rickenbacker Causeway near Bear Cut Bridge observed a motorcycle cutting in and out of the right travel lane. The motorcycle operator was driving in a careless manner. Officer Diaz attempted a traffic stop and the motorcycle did not stop. A B.O.L.O. was issued and MDPD was able to stop the motorcycle. The driver was taken into custody and several citations were issued.

While on patrol, officers at the 6000 block of Crandon Boulevard conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Officers contacted the driver and completed a records check. The check revealed the driver had a suspended driver’s license without knowledge. The driver was issued a citation.
