The incident occurred in Muzaffarpur Tikri village.
The victim, identified as Preeti, had been engaging in frequent phone conversations with a young man from her village. Despite her family’s objections to this communication, Preeti continued to talk to him, they added.
The situation escalated when Preeti refused to comply with her family’s demands to cease contact with the young man. Allegedly driven by anger, her father, Manrakhan Singh, along with her two brothers, Radheshyam Singh and Ghanshyam Singh, reportedly resorted to a horrifying act, using an axe to end Preeti’s life on the fateful Saturday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava said the three accused had been detained and have confessed to committing the crime.
Strict legal action would be taken in the matter, the SP said, adding that the body had been sent for postmortem.
