The Washington County Sheriff’s Office believe there could be more victims connected to the suspects.
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. — Four men were arrested after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a child predator sting.
On April 4, WCSO detectives and deputies posing as underage boys and girls set up decoy profiles on several dating apps and websites. Investigators said people contacted those profiles and offered to meet someone they thought was a child for sex. When they arrived, they found law enforcement.
Deputies arrested four men for luring a minor and online sexual corruption of a child in the first degree. They’re identified as 30-year-old Matthew Goldman of Tigard, 27-year-old Jesus Rodriguez-Garcia of Forest Grove, 25-year-old Gerardo Serrano-Garcia of Hillsboro, and 54-year-old Ruben Olvera-Gaona of Forest Grove.
Deputies are sharing their mugshots because they think there could be more victims. They said while chatting with a decoy, Rodriguez-Garcia said he’d had sexual contact with other minors.
“It’s a sad fact that this happens,” said WCSO detective Anel Ceric. “Once this happens to a child, it’s very traumatic; they carry on into adulthood.”
Ceric said it’s critical that parents warn their kids about what’s happening on the internet and monitor who they connect with online.
“You have to be involved in your child’s life,” warned Ceric, “what they do on your phones, their iPads, any sort of websites and social media they use.”
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is available to help teach kids about internet safety and provide online classes for parents and Community Organizations. To learn more, call the WCSO main line at 503-846-2700.
