Investigators have charged five men with sex crimes following a sting operation in Virginia Beach.
Law enforcement personnel were talking with the suspects while impersonating a juvenile and inviting them to a specific location under the pretense of having sex for money, according to Virginia Beach police. The five that showed up to the location were taken into police custody.
All five were charged with attempted carnal knowledge of a minor and use of communication systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children. The men were:
- Hyman Stubbs II, 36, of Virginia Beach
- Geraldpao Balandra, 23, of Palisade Park, New Jersey
- Justin Macezinskas, 40, of Virginia Beach
- Reggie Keaton, 45, of Chesapeake
- Elmer Aquilar, 32, of Virginia Beach
Stubbs was additionally charged with resisting arrest. The sting operation was conducted in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. It was not immediately clear whether any of the men were active duty Navy.
“Ultimately, prioritizing the removal of sexual predators from our streets is not only a matter of public safety but also a reflection of our collective commitment to creating a society that values the safety, dignity, and well-being of all its members,” Lieutenant Brent Calhoun said in a news release.
