WEBB COUNTY, Tex. (KGNS) – On Thursday, February 15, Sheriff Martin Cuellar of the Webb County Sheriff’s Office unveiled the outcomes of Operation Child Guardian, an undercover initiative aimed at capturing online predators.

The operation has led to the arrest of six individuals within our community, with one case pending.

Suspects were arrested at their residences and various locations throughout the area. This operation was the result of a collaborative effort involving state and federal agencies, including the Office of the Texas Attorney General.

Sheriff Cuellar highlighted the complexity of these investigations, stating, “These investigations are very complex, they’re not easy to conduct because you have to send personnel to specialized training to be able to conduct these types of investigations — because you got computers, you got phones, you got iPads, information that you have to retrieve from the suspect’s device.”

Additionally, Sheriff Cuellar revealed that since the inception of Operation Child Guardian in 2009, nearly 90 child predators have been arrested.

Residents with questions or who have been victims of a crime are urged to contact the Webb County Sheriff’s Office at 956-718-8084 for assistance.
