68% of organizations face risks due to cybersecurity skills shortage | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #ransomware


Cybersecurity skills were analyzed in a recent report by Fortinet. According to the report, the number of organizations confirming five or more breaches jumped by 53% between 2021 and 2022. Sixty-eight percent of organizations indicate they face additional risks because of cybersecurity skills shortages, consistent with 67% in 2021.

Ninety-three percent of respondents indicate their board asks about cybersecurity, up from 88% in 2021. Ninety percent of leaders prefer to hire people with technology-focused certifications, up from 81% in 2021. Ninety-percent would also pay for an employee to get a cybersecurity certification.

Approximately 40% of have difficulty finding qualified candidates who are women, military veterans, or from minority backgrounds.
