Don’t ignore Chrome’s new password checkup feature

If you’ve logged in to any accounts on Google Chrome recently, you’ve probably noticed a new pop-up nagging you about your password security. This is one you shouldn’t ignore: The new feature will suggest stronger passwords for your accounts, and it will even run a checkup on your current passwords so you can be better protected in the next big breach.

Sonos will soon end software support for its older speakers

Sonos has long boasted that its speakers are “built to last,” but four of Sonos’s oldest products will lose software support starting this May. (To be fair, these products were launched between 2006 and 2007 and have technically been supported for the 10-plus-year timeframe that Sonos claims its audio products will last.) Sonos will offer a trade-in program and recycling options for the obsolete goods, plus 30 percent off any new speaker that will serve as a replacement for one of the legacy products.

Fast Fact: 1,800 degrees

That’s how hot the surface of Heliogen’s automated solar array gets. That’s hot enough to manufacture cement and other industrial products—processes that typically require burning fossil fuels—and that could potentially cut up to 10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.
