Aberdeen Royal Infirmary staff could be banned from car park as petition launched to save spaces | #childpredator | #onlinepredator | #sextrafficing

Staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary could soon be stopped from using an on-site multi-storey car park in a move that has sparked a backlash from a trade union.

The Lady Helen Wood car park at the Foresterhill Health Campus was opened in 2018 after a donation by The Wood Foundation.

At the time, it was hoped the facility would help patients and visitors find spaces easily amid complaints over a lack of capacity.

But it has also been used extensively by staff since the Covid-19 pandemic, when a lack of public transport and lower visitor numbers allowed a planning requirement to restrict its use to visitors and patients to be waived.

However, there are fears NHS Grampian could start enforcing the old rules again, with the workforce currently being surveyed on how to manage parking in the future.

Public sector union Unison has launched a petition asking the NHS to push for fresh permission to allow staff to use the car park.
