Advance Auto Parts has announced a sweepstakes called “Fuel Ride to College” where 10 winners will receive free gasoline for four years. Additionally, 20 more winners will receive a $100 Advance gift card. This initiative aims to help college students who struggle with the cost of gas, which is the biggest financial burden for 67% of college students according to recent data from Atomik Research.
To further support students and their parents, Advance Auto Parts is offering a range of “off to campus” services at their nationwide stores. These services include free battery testing and installation, wiper blade installation, and check engine light scanning. These services are meant to alleviate concerns about car maintenance and safety for incoming college freshmen.
The data from Atomik Research also found that 76% of parents of incoming freshmen are worried about their children’s ability to afford gas. In addition, 63% of these parents feel anxious about their child’s safety in terms of maintaining their cars. More than half of college students admitted to ignoring important dashboard alerts such as “check engine” or “low battery warning.”
Samantha Avivi, the Chief Marketing Officer at Advance Auto Parts, acknowledges that starting college brings excitement but also anxiety and worry, especially regarding finances and safety. The “Fuel Ride to College” program and complimentary curbside services aim to ease these worries by providing free gas and convenient services for students and parents. The goal is to ensure that students have reliable and safe transportation throughout their college experience.
