The Ahmedabad cybercrime police Monday arrested a Vadodara man posing as an IAS officer and duping companies.

According to the cybercrime police, Sudhakar Pandey had himself registered on TrueCaller, an app which identifies callers, by the name ‘senior IAS officer Avinash Pandey’. They added Pandey used to search for phone numbers of various companies online and contact them recommending his friends and relatives for jobs.

He would then go to the company, posing as if he had been sent by the senior IAS officer and get the job. According to the police, the accused would further demand an advance on his salary, thus cheating the company.

An FIR was lodged at the Ahmedabad cyber crime branch on June 5.
