BUFFALO, N.Y. — Technology experts are shining a light on cybersecurity measures individuals and businesses should take to prevent disasters similar to what airlines have seen recently.
Ikram Massabini, CEO of MVP Network Consulting in Buffalo, said cybersecurity looks different for everyone, but some basic practices can help.
These include making sure passwords to accounts are complex, always running the latest versions of applications and never assuming you cannot be a target.
“[Hackers] care because everything is sellable,” Massabini said. “You may have social security numbers. They may want to log in and just use your hardware and your internet access to put stuff and funnel it throughout the entire world.”
He recommends businesses that deal with personal and financial data consult a cybersecurity expert to be sure the proper measures are in place to prevent an expensive disaster.
