The missing Springfield girl has been found safe, state police said. More to come.
An earlier story follows:
Massachusetts State Police said they have issued an Amber Alert for a young girl who was kidnapped from Springfield.
State police said in an email around 11:30 a.m. that 4-year-old Cortana Goncalves was taken by 32-year-old Brandee Arnold, her biological mother who does not have custody of the child.
Arnold and her daughter might be traveling in a gray 2010 Honda Accord with Massachusetts license plate 3SCG24, according to state police.
She reportedly took Cortana from a family gathering earlier Thursday morning in violation of her custody agreement. She has previously made both suicidal and homicidal statements, police said, and there is “urgent concern” for the child’s safety and well being.
Cortana is described as being about 3′ tall and weighing between 30 and 35 pounds, with brown hair. She was last seen wearing an aqua-colored Hello Kitty shirt and striped shorts.
Arnold’s last known location was on the Massachusetts Turnpike in the Blandford area at 9:28 a.m.
Anyone who sees Arnold, Cortana or the gray Honda Accord is asked to call 911 immediately.
