An American child molester was stopped from entering the country, Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco said.

Tansingco identified the American as Todd Nolan Jones, 60, who arrived last Oct. 11 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.

“It has been our standard to turn back these aliens with record of conviction for sex offenses,” he said.

“We are doing this to protect our women and children, any of whom could be their next victim,” he added.

Tansingco explained, under the Philippine Immigration Act, an alien is excluded from entry into the country if he or she has been convicted of crimes involving moral turpitude.

The United States authorities recently informed the BI about the arrival of Jones who was convicted by a California court in 2000 on three counts of sexually molesting children who were under 13 years of age.

After receiving the information, Tansingco said he issued an alert order on the exclusion of Jones.

The American was immediately prevented entry upon his arrival and booked on the first available flight back to his port of origin.
