Information technology is an integral part of the strategic initiatives for all the Core Business Functions at IFC. Corporate Information Technologies (CIT) teams provide comprehensive IT support for IFC’s Investment & Advisory Services, Financial Operations, Treasury & the Asset Management Company, and oversees the provision of other IT services for IFC through shared services agreements (SSA) with other WBG IT units. A robust engagement model with business ensures prioritization of the business requirements & focus on delivery. The application landscape encompasses a wide variety of In-house and Customized COTS products (such as ACBS, Summit, etc.,) which meets the business needs of IFC departments.

The Business Intelligence unit of the Corporate Information Technology (CIT) department is seeking an IT Analyst, Data and Information Management (Data Warehouse Architect). The position requires a highly motivated and versatile candidate with strong technical knowledge and data management skills on the latest tools and platforms.

The incumbent will report to the Manager of Business Intelligence for the World Bank Group.Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 2 year term appointment.

    • Work closely with Business Intelligence Analysts, Data Analysts and Software Developers to ensure customer needs are being met in the areas of data warehouse, reporting and analytics
    • Participate in the feasibility analysis for new systems/applications and enhancement of existing applications.
    • Design and develop highly scalable and optimized data models for Data Marts, Cubes, Data Warehouse, and Operational Data Stores (ODS) using ERwin
    • Design ETL and ELT guidelines to ensure efficient and accurate data transfer within the entire BI System.
    • Develop data standards in terms of nomenclature, storage, design and deployments.
    • Design and maintain enterprise meta-data solution to communicate data definitions to the BI audience.
    • Design and develop data quality rules for Data Warehouse and Data Mart solutions to ensure data integrity levels are met.
    • Develop strategies for data acquisition, data structures and associated data policies
    • Contribute to the design, development and documentation of institutional data assets and artifacts following WBG Enterprise standards
    • Perform analysis of system data to identify patterns, exceptions and erroneous data
    • Contribute to the support and maintenance of an already existing body of database applications currently in production
    • Research new database technologies and recommend solutions in order to improve performance, scalability, & storage.
Minimum Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience

Other Selection Criteria:

    • 5+ years of practical experience with building enterprise data warehouses, data marts, operational data stores for large scale operations working with major database platforms such as oracle and DB2
    • Experience with building and maintaining physical and logical database models in Erwin
    • Expertise in Oracle PL/SQL
    • 3+ years’ experience with ETL tools (Informatica) with expertise in error handling and performance tuning
    • Strong understanding of a typical Software Design Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile development
    • Knowledge of master & meta data management tools and techniques
    • Proven ability to do data management activities, such as data profiling, data validation, and metadata management a plus
    • Ability to stay abreast of industry best practices and trends in data warehouse architecture
    • Highest ethical standards, personal integrity, effectiveness and demonstrated commitment to teamwork.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills and a keen sense of priorities.
    • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills in operating collaboratively across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience in collaborating with team consisting of contractors from multiple vendor partners and the maturity to participate in multiple complex programs at the same time in an agile environment.
