Baylor added the first Dallas-area commitment to its class of 2024 Wednesday morning.
Arlington Bowie safety Kris Wokomah announced he’d be heading to Waco after his final season in Arlington. Wokoman is the No. 35 recruit from the Dallas area in the incoming senior class.
The 6-0, 180-pound defensive back is unranked by 247sports but had 31 offers and chose Baylor over Texas Tech, SMU, Kansas and others.
According to his MaxPreps page, Wokomah recorded 67 total tackles in the 2022 season, including 38 solo tackles, and also had one interception. He appeared in 10 games, as Bowie finished 5-6 on the season and lost to Highland Park in the bi-district round.
Bowie has now had a player commit to a Power 5 school in three consecutive classes. Wokomah joins Kelby Valsin, last year’s No. 35 area recruit who is now a wide receiver at Texas Tech, and the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class — Devon Campbell, an offensive lineman at Texas.
He is the fourth safety from the Dallas area’s 2024 class to settle on a college. Lewisville’s Jaydan Hardy (Oklahoma), Forney’s Aaron Flowers (Oregon) and Mansfield Legacy’s Landyn Cleveland (Oklahoma State) area all committed as well.
Baylor now has seven commits in his class — all three-star recruits besides Wokomah. The Dallas-area safety is the first defensive back in the class and the first player from the region to commit to Baylor. Last year, Baylor signed six North Texas players.
