Here is a summary of incidents and actions taken by the Key Biscayne Police Department during the period of December 18 to December 24.

These incidents were taken from the department’s logs.


December 18, 2023

KBPD officers were dispatched to a business alarm at the 30 block of Crandon Boulevard. On arrival, officers contacted an employee, who advised it was set off accidentally. The business appeared secure.

The manager of the Shell Gas Station, located at 70 Crandon Boulevard, contacted police about a series of attempted fraudulent phone calls, which occurred over the weekend. Officers documented the incident in an informational report.

The complainant at the 300 block of Crandon Boulevard contacted police about their vehicle sustaining damage sometime last week. Officers noted the damage and provided a case card.

While on patrol, officers conducted a traffic stop at the 200 block of Seaview Drive for a speeding violation. The driver was contacted and issued a citation.


December 19, 2023

While on patrol, officers conducted a traffic stop at West McIntyre Street & Crandon Boulevard for a stop sign violation. The driver was contacted and issued a citation.

Units were dispatched to the 200 block of Sunrise Drive regarding a car alarm sounding for over 30 minutes. On arrival, the noise was no longer occurring. KBFD was on scene, and advised the alarm was malfunctioning and had been reset.

KBPD officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Cape Florida Drive regarding a disturbance. On arrival, officers contacted two co-workers, who had a disagreement at the job site. The disagreement escalated into a verbal argument. There were no signs of a physical altercation. One of the workers left the site after speaking with officers.

Police were dispatched to Harbor Drive & West Enid Drive regarding a hit and run accident. Officers contacted the involved party and completed a hit and run report.

KBPD units were dispatched to the 100 block of Ocean Lane Drive regarding a loud party. Officers contacted security, who advised the party had approval from the property manager. Officers contacted the party organizer and advised them of the complaint. The music was lowered.


December 20, 2023

Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Grand Bay Drive regarding an alarm at the clubhouse. Officers checked the exterior and all appeared to be secure. Officers contacted the security guard and advised them of the call.

Police were dispatched to the 90 block of Harbor Drive regarding a hit and run accident. Officers contacted the involved party and completed a hit and run report.

KBPD units assisted FWC with a Park Ranger inside of Bill Baggs State Park, around 1200 Crandon Boulevard. The Ranger injured themselves while working and was transported to Mercy Hospital.

Police responded to the 200 block of Crandon Boulevard regarding a well-being check. Officers were able to determine the person was okay and they had been sleeping. The family member was contacted and advised.

While on patrol, officers conducted a traffic stop at West McIntyre Street & Woodcrest Road for a stop sign violation. The driver was contacted and issued a citation.


December 21, 2023

Units were dispatched to the 600 block of Curtiswood Drive regarding a loud music call. On arrival, music could clearly be heard. The homeowner was contacted and issued a written warning.

KBPD officers responded to a residential alarm at the 500 block of South Mashta Drive. Officers contacted the homeowner, who advised the alarm was set off accidentally. All was secure.

The victim at the 700 block of Crandon Boulevard contacted police about being the victim of fraud. The victim advised they were contacted by a person requesting their debit card number. The number was provided, and the victim lost a sum of money.

KBPD units responded to assist KBFD and Miami FD with a gas leak at the 100 block of Crandon Boulevard. Officers served as traffic control.

The victim at the 600 block of Crandon Boulevard responded to the Key Biscayne Police Department to report an assault incident. The victim advised while walking with their child on the sidewalk, they were approached by a known male in aggressive manner. The victim stated they were in fear, due to the male aggressively engaging them. This has been an on-going issue. Officers located the male and post-Miranda; he acknowledged his intent to intentionally confront the victim. Officers located witnesses, who confirmed the victim’s account. The male was taken into custody and transported to TGK Jail for booking.

The victim at the 400 block of Grand Bay Drive contacted police about an unknown person accessing their bank account over a two-month span. The victim had been out of the country during this time. The incident was documented, and detectives will conduct the follow-up.

The reportee at the 1100 block of Crandon Boulevard contacted police about selling their vehicle on-line. They received a check, which came back non-negotiable. The reportee still has the car. The incident was documented in an informational report.

Police officers were dispatched to the Shell gas station, located at 70 Crandon Boulevard, regarding a battery. Officers contacted the reporting party, who advised while running southbound on Crandon Blvd., he became involved in an altercation with a driver. The reportee advised while he was running, the vehicle made a right and almost collided with him. The complainant hit the back of the vehicle to get the driver’s attention. Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, who advised the complainant kicked the back of his vehicle. The driver did not believe he interfered with the runner. The incident was documented.


December 22, 2023

Units were dispatched to the 600 block of Ocean Drive regarding a group of juveniles causing a disturbance. Officers circulated the area, but no one was located.

KBPD officers responded to the 200 block of Island Drive regarding reports of loud music and a party. Officers contacted the homeowner and issued a written warning.

While on patrol, officers at the 300 block of East Heather Drive issued parking citations to vehicles parking in a prohibited area.

Officers responded to Crandon Boulevard & Harbor Drive regarding a minor traffic crash. Officers contacted both parties and completed the traffic crash investigation.

Police responded to a business alarm at the 200 block of Crandon Boulevard. The business was checked, and all appeared secure.

Units located a dog at the 800 block of Crandon Boulevard and reunited it with its owner.

KBPD units stood by DCF as they conducted a wellness check at the 700 block of Crandon Boulevard. DCF was able to see the child and left the area without further incident.

While on patrol, officers conducted a traffic stop at West McIntyre Street & Village Green Way for a stop sign violation. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.


December 23, 2023

KBPD officers responded to the 200 block of Seaview Drive regarding reports of loud music and a party. Officers contacted the homeowner and issued a written warning.

Police were dispatched to a residential alarm at the 500 block of Harbor Drive. Officers contacted the homeowner, who advised the housekeeper entered the incorrect code.

Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Warren Lane regarding a loud music call. On arrival, officers could hear the music being played by the construction crew. The crew was contacted and advised to lower the music.

While on patrol, officers conducted a traffic stop at the 500 block of Glenridge Road for a moving violation. Officers contacted the driver and issued a citation.


December 24, 2023

KBPD units responded to the 100 block of Hampton Lane regarding reports of loud noise. On arrival, officers observed a small gathering in the patio area. Officers contacted the homeowner and advised them of the call. A written warning was issued.

The complainant at the 90 block of Harbor Drive contacted police about people from his church wanting to have him arrested. Officers documented the complainant’s concern.

Police officers responded to reports of fireworks around the 700 block of North Mashta Drive. Officers drove the area but did not locate anything.
