Bernice M. Hacker, age 85, of Broseley, MO, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, in Saint Louis, MO. Mrs. Hacker was born April 20, 1938, in Marie, AR, daughter of the late Austin M. and Ludy Delores Clark. Bernice was a woman of faith. She had many strengths and talents. She was a cancer survivor. She enjoyed opportunities to channel her creativity, especially through decorating and in music. She was skilled in flower and vegetable gardening. She also loved to bowl and was on bowling leagues throughout the years. Playing cards with family was one of her favorite pastimes. More than anything, family was of the utmost importance to Bernice. She raised many children over the years, and she raised them well. She was sure to instill the importance of advocating for what is right in her children. She had individual friendships with each of her children which they grew to cherish.
On October 15, 1955, she married Lenard Hacker. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2020. She is survived by four children: Wendy (Michael) Wolchanski of Fort Wayne, IN, Jana McMahon of Broseley, MO, Andrea Sykes of Decatur, IN, and James Hacker of Broseley, MO; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and two brothers: Dennis Clark of IN, and Raymond Clark, of IL. In addition to her husband and parents, Bernice was also preceded in death by one son: Steven Hacker; and three siblings: Geraldine Cowan, Dewey Clark, and Gary Clark.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 17, 2023, in the funeral home chapel with Rev Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley, MO.
