Braintree schools to get cameras on buses, door alarms | #schoolsaftey

BRAINTREE – Alarms and additional card readers will be installed on exterior doors of school buildings and cameras will be added to school buses, School Superintendent James Lee told the town council.

Lee gave the council an update on the how the $1 million debt exclusion approved by voters at a 2020 special election for school security is being used. The superintendent said he could not publicly detail all the security measures being implemented by the schools for obvious reasons. The improvements have “taken longer than it should” due to global supply chain issues and will hopefully be completed this summer, he said

The alarms and card readers will make it as easy as possible for staff to enter and leave the building, Lee said. They will also prevent doors from being propped open, and the alarms will also keep students from slipping out unnoticed.
