Calaveras Consolidated Fire says its Facebook profile was hacked | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker

VALLEY SPRINGS, Calif. — Hackers broke into the Facebook profile belonging to the Calaveras Consolidated Fire Protection District, the district announced Saturday.

In a 30-word post to their hacked account, the fire district said that Facebook advised that the hacked page would be taken down. The fire district said it would be starting up a new page soon while apologizing for the inconvenience.

The district is the second social media account belonging to local first responders to be hacked in two days. On Friday, the Galt Police Department said its Instagram page was hacked.

It’s unclear if the two hacks are related. Instagram and Facebook are both owned by social media giant, Meta.
