Carrie Underwood Impersonation Scam Leads to Police Investigation

Unfortunately, celebrity impersonation scams continue to be a growing concern. This week, police in Snyder County, Pennsylvania are investigating an online scammer claiming to be Carrie Underwood. Reports state that 24-year-old Blake Brandt was contacted by an unknown individual claiming to be the “Cry Pretty” singer.

Carrie Underwood’s Identity Used in Costly Impersonation Scam

According to Fox 56 WOLF, an unidentified scammer began to pry the victim for money in the form of gift cards. Brandt believed that he would eventually get to meet Underwood if he complied to the monetary requests. Ultimately, the 24-year-old handed over $7,188.62 worth of gift cards over the course of several months.

The victim only realized he was being scammed after receiving countless requests for more gift cards. Brandt reported the incident to police on July 31. Underwood herself has not yet spoken out on the situation amid the police investigation.

Recently, America’s Got Talent’s, Nightbirde also dealt with a similar scam. As we know, the talented singer dropped out of the competition this year to focus on her health while battling cancer. Nightbirde informed her fans via social media, warning them not to send any money to the fraudulent page.

What Underwood is Up to Currently

Regardless, Underwood has been a bit busy these days. When she’s not falling victim to impersonation scams, she is on stage headlining CMA Summer Jam. Earlier this summer, the “Cowboy Casanova” singer brought the house down at one of Country music’s biggest nights. There, she shared an on stage moment with Country music trailblazer, Dwight Yoakam.

The concert’s primetime special will air on ABC September 2. In the meantime, Underwood has already announced her participation in California’s Stagecoach Music Festival next year. Tickets are available in her bio on Instagram for the event on April 30, 2022.
