Celebrating seven years – Central Queensland Today | #childsafety | #kids | #chldern | #parents | #schoolsafey

Celebrating its seventh birthday, Absolute Baby officially opened its brand-new store in West Rockhampton in September 2022.

The locally owned and operated business sells car seats, prams, gift and retail items, and provides child car safety seat install services, pram and car seat cleaning services, new baby gear hire and holiday hire.

Having nine years of child safety experience, owner Rebecca Christiansen said she has a strong commitment to children’s safety whilst in the car.

“As a parent of gorgeous identical twin girls, Paige and Avril, I understand what is involved in starting a family and how parents place the safety of their children beyond all else,” she said.

In 2014, Rebecca and her family moved from their home town Rockhampton to Townsville where she started working at Bubs2Bratz Nursery Hire.

While there Rebecca completed her ACRI Child Passenger Safety courses, received one-on-one training with an experienced ambulance officer and spent weeks completing supervised installs.

“You can trust that I am qualified and experienced to help you navigate the world of child car safety seat stages and terminology and will provide you with the best service possible,” she said.

Once the Christiansen family moved back to Rockhampton in September 2016, Rebecca was encouraged by her best friend, Melissa to open Absolute Baby, and she started offering mobile car safety seat installs and checks and pram and car seat cleaning.

To further her education on Child Safety, Rebecca travelled to Melbourne to train and completed the Accredited Child Safety Seat Instructor course with ACRI in November 2017.

Absolute Baby expanded again in 2018 with the short and long-term hire of car safety seats, capsules and baby equipment being added to the brand.

“As a family we experienced first-hand the overwhelming cost of purchasing baby equipment (times two), only to have it gathering dust after less than six months of use,” Rebecca said.

“Then there’s the dilemma of two children needing the same, sometimes expensive equipment at the same time or the stress of trying to organise a holiday and having to transport lots of baby gear.

Absolute Baby is here to reduce your stress.

“If families are visiting Rockhampton and Central Queensland, they can expect happy holidays by hiring baby gear, rather than lugging it all with them.”

In September 2022, Rebecca stepped into working full-time at Absolute Baby and achieved her goal of opening a much-needed Baby shop with car seats, prams and other gear for families.

“I don’t know of anyone else in CQ that is offering the products and services of Absolute Baby,” Rebecca said.

“The reason for opening the retail store 12 months ago was to provide local families with items they couldn’t get locally and giving us a safe, undercover area for car seat installs and demonstrations.

“Installing car safety seats is a high-risk venture, I make the instruction manual easy to understand and give families peace of mind that it’s installed right”

Rebecca said she is working on a Medela account to provide local breast pump hire and is adding maternity and breastfeeding clothes in the near future.
