The Chambersburg Area School District announced Thursday that its recent closure came after a ransomware attack on the district’s network.

The school district – which closed from Monday through Wednesday and had a two-hour delay for students on Thursday – is returning to its regular schedule on Friday.

Third-party forensic specialists and law enforcement have been working with the district throughout the week to determine the impact of the attack and restore the system to full functionality.

The school district did not give any updates regarding access to school internet, which was not available to students when they returned to class Thursday.
