Burlington, VT– In a time when there’s an intense focus on cybersecurity, Champlain College and NuHarbor Security are doing their part to get cybersecurity students industry ready.

The school and the organization are partnering to build a NuHarbor center for students to learn from, right on the college’s Lakeside Campus.

Champlain College President Alex Hernandez says this will open up access to internships, mentors, hands-on learning opportunities, and scholarships for students.

Hernandez notes over 3.5 million cybersecurity jobs in the U.S. went unfilled last year. He says the new partnership aims to set an education model that other schools can learn from in order to help tackle the industry.

“Cyber Security is one of the most pressing issues in our time,” Hernandez says. “If students are going to be ready, we need to give them the hands-on experiences they need to hit the ground running the day they graduate. We’re giving them a preparation that is going to be invaluable for them when they graduate.”

Hernandez says the NuHarbor center, being built on the second floor of the Miller Center, should be complete by January 2025.
