CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sugar Creek Charter School in Charlotte announced Friday that it would delay the start of class due to COVID-19.
The school will now start on Aug. 23 for K-8th grade students. Class was originally set to start Aug. 16.
According to school officials, the spike in COVID-19 cases that include children was the reason for the delay.
“Our number one priority is always the health and safety of our students. Due to the spike in Covid-19 cases that include children, we have made the difficult decision to delay the start of school for our K-8th grade students to August 23rd,” the school posted on Facebook.
No other details have been released.
