CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – Human trafficking changes and destroys lives on a daily basis, and it doesn’t always get the attention it needs. Cheyenne Hills Church has noticed this and found a way to spread awareness.
“We’ve been able to expose some interesting information in our community,” said Connections Director at Cheyenne Hills Church, Julie Fogg. “Knowing that human trafficking is real and whether it’s sex trafficking or labor trafficking, that we do see it and are able to open our eyes to that.”
This is the second “Watch For Traffic” 5K Run/Walk that Cheyenne Hills Church will have hosted. In that time, members of the church have reached out to human trafficking survivors, with their stories providing even more desire to help make a difference. The 5K raises money to combat human trafficking, while also raising awareness in the community.
“A lot people have signed up for the race, that’s been a cool thing. We also have great sponsorships around our community. Another thing we did is, in our first year, we put together a PSA and we had different actors that came together to be able to do that.”
The event takes place on August 28th at the church, beginning and ending in their parking lot. To participate, visit their website.
