Detectives with the Allegheny County Sheriff’s office arrested five sex offenders Monday night, Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus announced Tuesday.
A tip on the location of a child endangerment suspect led to the arrest of four of the five — Joseph Neidermeyer, 34, and Lee Chew, Amber Avery and Anthony Ditton, for whom no ages were given.
According to the sheriff’s office, detectives received information Monday that Neidermeyer was residing in a motel along Route 60. They said he was wanted by Ohio Township police on charges of endangering the welfare of children and simple assault.
The name and location of the motel were not disclosed.
Neidermeyer was found at a business on Route 60 with Chew, a registered sex offender. Chew had recently left the Renewal Center without permission and was the subject of a detainer issued by state parole.
Following the arrest of Neidermeyer and Chew, detectives found that Avery and Ditton, also sex offenders who had absconded from Renewal Center and had state parole detainers, were also at the Route 60 motel.
All four were taken into custody without incident. Chew, Avery and Ditton were charged with failure to register under Megan’s Law.
In an unrelated matter, the sheriff’s office said detectives also arrested Chad Coyne on Monday night in Glassport. Also a registered sex offender, Coyne was taken into custody for violating probation.
All five were taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
