03 August 2023- A search by special agents of the Office of the Attorney General’s Child Predator Section in Shippensburg turns up both a stolen firearm and a bag of meth. Jeffrey Payne is free on an unsecured bail of $75,000 bail after being charged with felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
On August 3rd, Narcotics Agents from the Attorney General’s Office were called in to support agents from the AG’s Child Predator Section while the latter conducted a search warrant on the home of Jeffrey Payne in Shippensburg. Officials say that during a search of the Mainsville Road home on Thursday, agents found a Taurus Judge revolver as well as a bag of methamphetamine in the living room. When Payne was interviewed about the drugs, he allegedly sunk his head and told officers “he forgot all about that meth”.
The Taurus revolver was allegedly purchased by Payne, who said that he bought it from a person he knew but that the person was not a FFL dealer. The legal transfer of sale was subsequently not completed and when police ran the gun’s serial number it was reportedly found stolen out of Bucks County.
Jeffery Payne is free on an unsecured bail of $75,000. His preliminary hearing is set for August 15th.
