Preying on the young, these men took advantage of young children and destroyed their lives.
Some of the wicked acts saw the vulnerable youngsters subjected to years of abuse.
But thanks to the bravery of the victims these men have face the courts and are now behind bars.
Paul Berry’s subjected three children to sexual abuse.
His crimes date back to the 1980s when he indecently assaulted a young girl.
Then, in the mid 2000s, Berry, from Gateshead, began abusing two young boys when he would make sexual advances towards them and sexually assault them.
The victims all bravely came forward in 2019 to report the abuse and an investigation was launched by Northumbria Police’s Safeguarding unit.
Berry , 60, was arrested and denied all the allegations but a jury found him guilty of 12 counts of sexual assault at Newcastle Crown Court in March.
On Friday, May 14, at the same court, he was sentenced to 14 years behind bars.
Berry, of Pattinson Gardens, Felling, has also been handed an indefinite Serious Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) which places restrictions on him when he is released from prison and he will have to sign the sex offenders register for life.
Convicted sex offender Barry Radford was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2019 for a series of grooming offences, taking indecent images of one of his victims and possessing more than 1,000 vile images of other children.
A further series of sick crimes against teenage boys came to light when two victims told police they had also been abused by the 55-year-old.
Newcastle Crown Court heard how he would give his victims money, let them drink and smoke cannabis and bought them expensive clothing.
Gavin Doig, prosecuting, said Radford took advantage of one of the boys while he was drunk and offered him £200 to have sex with him.
The Northumberland-based spray painter also sexually assaulted another teenage boy on two separate occasions in 2016 by touching his scrotum area over his clothing.
Radford urged the teenager to touch his penis and asked him “why don’t you want to? Am I too old for you?”.
Radford was charged with four counts of rape, six counts of sexual assault and two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
He later pleaded guilty to 12 sex offences against children at Newcastle Crown Court.
Radford, of no fixed address but previously of Greystoke Avenue, Whickham, saw his 12-year sentence extended by a further 11 years.
John Gillis, 81, subjected a young girl to a campaign of rape which left her traumatised for life.
He arrogantly thought he had got away with the despicable abuse he carried out many years ago.
But justice caught up with him and he is now likely to die in prison as he was told he must serve two-thirds of a 23 jail sentence behind bars.
Gillis, of Plessey Road, Blyth, Northumberland, was convicted after a trial in May of six counts of rape, three of them when the victim was under 13, and two of indecent assault.
As well as the prison sentence, Gillis will be on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Edward Brady, 61, from Heaton, indecently assaulted two young girls for more than 10 years where he forced the young girls to carry out sex acts on him and he sexually touched them.
He also placed a camera in a toilet roll holder in a bathroom to obtain footage of his victims for his own sexual gratification.
After he was questioned by police, Brady was charged with two counts of indecency with a child, three counts of indecent assault and one count of voyeurism.
Brady of Coast Road, Heaton, pleaded guilty to all six offences and was sentenced to seven years and eight months at Newcastle Crown Court last Friday.
He was also given an indefinite restraining order and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which places strict restrictions on him as well as certain requirements he will have to comply with upon his release from prison.
Glen Dickinson is back behind bars after he was convicted of sick sex attacks on a seven-year-old girl.
He had already served a prison sentence for abusing another young girl when she was aged under 10.
Now he has been jailed for 11 years after the second victim bravely came forward to tell police what he had done to her.
As he was locked up at Newcastle Crown Court, a victim impact statement from the girl was read out.
She said she had been left with anxiety and depression and had to move as she felt like people knew what had happened.
Dickinson, 37, of Kearsley Close, Seaton Delaval, Northumberland, was found guilty by a jury of two serious sexual assaults on the child.
It was in 2014 that he was convicted of the earlier sex offences on the first victim. The new offending happened before that but only came to light more recently.
Judge Gittins said Dickinson poses a substantial risk to girls of cause serious harm and concluded he is a dangerous offender.”
He was jailed for 11 years with an extended licence period of a further year.
Sex offender registration and a sexual offences prevention order imposed in 2014 continue to be in force.
A “dangerous” paedophile teacher who tricked young teenage boys into filming themselves performing sex acts has been jailed for 17 years.
Dean Davidson, 38, admitted 18 sexual offences over 10 years, including possession of indecent images of children, online exploitation of young teenagers and indecently touching boys.
The defendant, of Brockwood Court, Ashington, Northumberland, who taught in a number of schools in the North East of England, “posed as a good-looking blonde girl” online, one of his victims said.
In other cases he used a male alter-ego, depending on the sexuality of his young victims, Newcastle Crown Court was told.
The disgraced defendant held his head in his hands during the lengthy sentencing hearing, during which statements from 27 victims were heard.
In some cases, he posed as a sexually adventurous older girl, and cajoled them into performing sexual acts on camera.
Davidson, without their knowledge, made recordings of those videos, the court heard.
One told the court he had remained in contact for years with what he thought was a woman, but which was actually Davidson.
The man only realised the deception when detectives approached him and showed him video of himself as a boy aged around 13 performing sex acts.
Officers had recovered the video from Davidson’s electronic devices.
Judge Sarah Mallett sentenced him to serve 17 years in jail, with a six-year extended period.
Adam Lumley exchanged thousands of photographs and videos with like-minded sex offenders online.
The 29-year-old, convicted of indecent exposure last year, had amassed his vile collection between 2013 and 2020.
Newcastle Crown Court he also distributed some of the material and was part of a network of paedophiles sharing images online.
Lumley, of Stanton Street, Arthurs Hill, Newcastle, was jailed for more than three years.
Lumley pleaded guilty to distributing indecent images and possessing 2,611 of the most serious, category A, images, including 1,628 movies. He also had 1,674 category B and 3,021 category C.
The ages of the children ranged from babies to 15 year olds.
There were many thousands of other images on his devices and cloud platforms that police did not examine to see if they were illegal.
He admitted he planned to upload some pictures he took of a child doing a private act in exchange for more material from other users.
Lumley also admitted voyeurism, possessing extreme pornography involving an adult and a dog and possessing prohibited images of a child.
Lumley was jailed for three years and two months and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order and sex offenders registration for ten years.
A young girl was repeatedly raped after her family pressured her to drop earlier allegations against her abuser.
When the vulnerable child finally plucked up the courage to report that she had been abused by Craig Wight, it seemed her nightmare would be over.
But in an “appalling” development, members of her family persuaded her it would be best if she withdrew the complaint.
The youngster did as she was asked but months later Wight subjected her to a series of even more serious sex attacks, including multiple painful rapes.
The 43-year-old paedophile, who groomed the victim by telling her he loved her, was jailed for 15 years at Newcastle Crown Court.
Wight, of Hadrian Court, Killingworth, North Tyneside, admitted 18 sex offences including three of rape, although he raped her “at least four or five times”, the court heard.
