#childpredator | Two arrested in Meriwether for child pornography | #parenting | #parenting | #kids

Two Meriwether County residents, including the deputy clerk at the Meriwether County Magistrate Court, have been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.

Carol Washington, 49, of Woodbury, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of sexual exploitation of children and one count of violation of oath of office, both felonies.

Washington was charged by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit. She was released on bond of $5,000 per charge.

Also arrested Wednesday was Trinity “Trint” Thomas Davidson, 38, of Luthersville. Davidson was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography. No bond amount was listed on Davidson’s booking report at the Meriwether County Jail.

Though they were arrested on the same day for the same charges, the two cases are not related, according to Lindsay Marchant, assistant special agent in charge. The cases also aren’t related to the April arrest of Meriwether County resident Robert “Trey” Nasdeo on child pornography charges.

Both arrests were the result of investigations that resulted from tips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

In Davidson’s case, the tip regarded the possible upload and possession of pornography by Davidson to a “popular online platform,” according to the GBI press release.

In Washington’s case, the tip was regarding the possible upload and possession of pornography by Washington to a “poplar social media application.”

Marchant said she could not specify which online platforms were being used.

The tips are generated by members of the public and electronic service providers, and are sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The center then determines which state needs to receive the tip, based on the approximate location of the offender, Marchant said, and the state Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force then conducts the investigation.

The ICAC program was created by the U.S. Department of Justice in response to the increasing number of children and teenagers using the internet, the proliferation of child pornography and the heightened online activity by predators searching for unsupervised contact with underage victims, according to the GBI.

Anyone with information about cases of child exploitation is to contact the GBI Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit at 404-270-8870.
