“Please understand that there may be times where we respond to you in your time of need, and after evaluating you or your loved one, our staff may recommend that you NOT be transported to the local ED for your own safety. If the EMS staff feels that your symptoms do not warrant a trip to the emergency department at this time, they will advise you of that.”

Chief Hickey explains that EMS staff are experienced in this area and are looking out for everyone during this time.

“We are not doing this because we think ‘you are not that sick,’ we just know what the risk is currently and we only have your best interest in mind. The resources at the local emergency departments are thin right now, and sometimes we can recommend simple treatments at home until you can get an appointment with your primary physician.”

Chief Hickey asks the public to take advantage of information listed on the Trumbull County Board of Health website at www.tcbh.org for more information about symptoms and other information concerning COVID-19.
