CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A Chillicothe man who was a wanted sex offender has been sentenced to two years in prison. Michael Anthony Owes, 35, was sentenced earlier this month.
Owes was on the run for over a year after failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements. He pled guilty in 2019, after taking a deal, reducing his charges from rape to gross sexual imposition. The victim in that case was 5-years-old at the time of the crime.
In May, Chillicothe police received information that Owes was at the AutoZone on North Bridge Street. When officers arrived, Owes reversed his vehicle and fled at a high speed. He nearly collided with oncoming traffic and ran several red lights.
He was eventually captured and taken into custody.
Michael Owes is known in the area as a person of interest in the deaths of two local women. He has never been charged in connection with the cases, but his name has been mentioned in several documentaries regarding the missing women of Chillicothe.
