Cisco, the renowned leader in enterprise networking and security, is setting a new standard in cybersecurity with its Extended Detection and Response (XDR) solution. In a significant move to combat the rising threat of ransomware attacks, Cisco XDR now introduces automated recovery capabilities, allowing businesses to swiftly resume operations after a breach.
Cisco booth at MWC 2018The Cisco Security Cloud, an AI-driven, unified, cross-domain security platform, has been a cornerstone of Cisco’s vision. The recent launch of Cisco XDR at the RSA Conference marked a breakthrough with unmatched visibility across network and endpoints. Now, with the integration of automated ransomware recovery, Cisco XDR is poised to take the fight against cyber threats to a new level, enhancing business continuity and minimizing the impact of attacks.

“Our objective is to build a resilient and open cybersecurity platform that can withstand ransomware assaults and recover with minimal impact, ensuring uninterrupted business operations,” Jeetu Patel, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Security and Collaboration at Cisco, said.

The latest capabilities in Cisco XDR come at a critical time, as the Cisco Talos Incident Response (IR) team reported responding to the highest number of ransomware engagements in over a year during the second quarter of 2023. By enabling Security Operations Center (SOC) teams to detect, snapshot, and restore business-critical data at the earliest signs of a ransomware attack, Cisco XDR acts as a proactive shield against the lateral spread of attacks through networks.

Cisco’s commitment to fostering a collaborative ecosystem is evident in its expansion of third-party XDR integrations. In a groundbreaking announcement, Cisco disclosed the first integration of its kind with Cohesity’s DataProtect and DataHawk solutions. This move empowers businesses to combine the power of Cisco’s XDR with leading infrastructure and enterprise data backup and recovery capabilities.

With this latest enhancement, Cisco reaffirms its position at the forefront of cybersecurity, continually striving to redefine the capabilities of security products. By introducing near real-time recovery, Cisco XDR is arming businesses with the tools they need to stay resilient in the face of evolving cyber threats.
