Clarington man accused of using hacking technology to steal high-end vehicles | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker



A Clarington man is facing charges in connection with a slew of high-end auto thefts.

Project Kingmaker ran for five months, and probed the disappearance of vehicles like Chevrolet Tahoes, Chevrolet Suburbans and GMC Yukons.

Durham police say all of the vehicles had been stolen from residential areas.

Investigators allege the man would hack the vehicles’ computer programming to get inside.

Zachary Hussey, 24, of Clarington, faces 23 charges, including theft of a motor vehicle (seven counts), possession of a firearm (other than restricted), unlawfully selling or possessing a counterfeit mark (four counts) and failure to comply with an undertaking.
