A father and son from Granite City were each charged with weapons- and drug-related felony charges Friday.

EDWARDSVILLE – A Collinsville man was charged Thursday with failure to register under the Child Sex Offender Registration Act.

Vernon L. Wells Jr., 42, was charged July 20 with unlawful failure to register as a sex offender. The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department.

According to court documents, on July 19 Wells allegedly failed to register with the Collinsville Police Department within three days of establishing a residence.

Bail was set at $25,000.

In an unrelated incident, Donnita T. Hayes, 43, of Glen Carbon, was charged with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, a Class 4 felony.

The case was presented by the Maryville Police Department.

According to court documents, on Feb. 23 Hayes allegedly was driving a Chrysler 300 when she fled from a Maryville Police Officer, reaching speeds in excess of21 miles over the posted speed limit.

Bail was set at $40,000.

These individuals have only been charged and remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All charges may not be reported.
