COLUMBIA COUNTY (WFXG) – The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a virtual Teachers in Business event on Thursday.

The chamber will give virtual tours of local businesses to local teachers and guidance counselors. The goal of the program is to teach those educators about different career opportunities so they can go back and tell their students.

The chamber says they asked businesses what their biggest challenge was and the top answer was finding qualified talent.

Russell Lahodny, the president and CEO of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce says, “I think it’s important to again support our businesses but also share that information with the students.”

This is the sixth year they’ve held this event. In previous years, it was an in-person event but it’s virtual this year due to the pandemic.
